This framed interpretation of a painting executed in 1891 by Glasgow boy Paterson is a strong departure from his contempories. It displays a vivid use of colours capturing the essence of the early morning autumnal day.

The whole picture is painted very loosely with a slight out of focus feel which enhances the idyllic setting and dreaminess of the woman resting.
